Recently I saw the show "Eighteen Kids...And Counting" for the first time. It has never been a show that particularly interested me and thus I have never watched it although I have heard of it. Personally I think it is disgusting for this family to espouse their so-called "values" and market them on display. If we truly examine the aforementioned show and said family, what we have is a display of convictions that have racked up massive dollars to help afford the Duggars a maintenance of their li…

Relationship abuse isn't anything new. I think when it comes to the topic of abuse, more people than we would like to think roll their eyes or shift with extreme discomfort. The reality of mistreatment in intimate or immediate relationships makes the masses uncomfortable not because it's not their problem, but because it causes the issue to hit too close to home. They either personalize it to see themselves or someone cl…

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix; angel-headed hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dyn..." When Allen Ginsberg penned these words, there was no internet, there were no cell phones, there were no mega means for informational transmission, and TV was in its infancy in terms of its now reality. The world of mass hysteria Ginsberg spoke…

Philosophy is distinguished from other aspects of thought because it is formulated upon a critical and systematic approach of reasoned arugment. Having been schooled in philosophy, many have often recognized that I often use a philosophical approach when debating many modern Christian issues. I rather enjoy this identification; it makes me feel smarter than many of the opponents I have faced. The truth is that, to me, when I look at major Christian issues, I believe the Scriptures present to us…

For a number of years God has been revealing to me the importance of walking in maturity within the body. He started working on this within myself, and for the past two years, has given me a special charge to teach on the issue because we have a severely immature church. And yes, we have a very immature church. We have a range from pre-school to junior high with Bibles as people whine, complain, and fight over things that are completely non-essential. "I want this!" "I want that!" "I don't like…

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the issue of women in the pulpit. Not because I am experiencing question that we belong there - not by a longshot - but lately I have been thinking about how we got to where we are, with the questions that still exist in the minds of unconvinced chauvinists, about the "place" of women in Christianity. When I was younger, I just assumed the battle had already been fought and we were past the whole women to speak or not to speak debate. Yes, I know, I…

Apostle Dr. Lee Ann's Testimony
I was born the youngest of five girls in upstate, NY in 1981. My mom was what they call a "cradle Catholic;" she had been a part of the Roman Catholic Church since her literal birth. As a first-generation Italian, being Catholic was a very big part of her life. I came to learn as an adult that she was very uncomfortable with many experiences in the Catholic Church spanning decades and had explored different aspects of various religious movements for a number of y…

Awhile back on YouTube, I had some unfortunate experiences with individuals over one of my episodes of "The Word of Power" who had been very well educated within Jehovah's Witnesses. The program was titled, "How To Tell A Christian In Honesty." The basic question I addressed is, are groups such as Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Scientists, Catholics, etc. "Christian?" A common and understandable question, people rightly want to know what defines a Christian and how, if a group is not Ch…

I received the following question about feminism and wanted to share my response here. This is taken from the "Ask Lee Ann" column in Power For Today Magazine, Vol. 7, No. 7, July 2008.
How can you call yourself a feminist and a Christian?
In order to understand my answer, it is important that all reading this understand the question and the vain in which it is asked. The implication in this question is that one automatically cannot be a feminist and a Christian; that all women h…

In 2002, Apostolic Fellowship International Ministries began publishing what is now known as Power For Today Magazine. Back in those days it was a simple six-page newsletter, printed without frills, mostly written by myself as we didn't have anyone else who was interested in writing for it. It was a basic update newsletter, informing people about things going on at our then-church with featured articles based on sermons I was preaching in services. Wow, it was hard getting started. People I knew…

When I was growing up, "feminist" was a dirty word. The Catholic Church told us feminists were evil people who wanted to kill children, stamp out men, and undermine the authority of Christ by trying to put women in the priesthood office. We were told the whole notion of men and women as equals was an illusion, something that might be ideal but would never happen through feminism. Feminists were regarded as radicals, women who burned their bras, had no interest in hygiene, and insisted on wearing…

I have come across quite a few people in many different denominations who believe proper diet and exercise have no place in the Christian life. Their logic is that the physical body, as it stands right now, is a part of the world, and will be transformed and glorified in the next life. Therefore, why does it matter what we eat? If we exercise? How our health is?
The Scriptures tell us that we are temples of the Holy Ghost in 1 Corinthians 6:19:
“Do you not know that your body is a temple…

Many in power within Christian communities are under the assumption that the war with Iraq is somehow a Christian war; a holy battle, if you will, against the terrors of radical Isalm. While I am not sure what the logic behind such rationality is, I am sure of one thing: many ministers are blurring the lines between spiritual battles and political battles. Is there a difference? Is any physical battle justifiable?
Many use the battles of the Israelites as a justification for modern warfare. Is…

A new discussion in the New Covenant of Grace Bible Study Group on Kingdom Women Ministry got me to thinking tonight: Why marriage as an illustration of the new covenant? I noticed that the Scriptures don't ever make a comparison between the covenants and friendships, or the covenants and people and their pets, or the covenants and people and their children (while there is much to be said for God and His relationship as a Father to His people, and there is that comparison between a parent and ch…

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 1:7, KJV)
Most of us know the great command we have to one another to edify the body. This command is especially spoken to all of those of us in the calling of leadership within God’s church here on earth. Ephesians 4:13 speaks of the five-fold office of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers,

One day when I was engaged I sat at the dining room table in my mother's house and bawled. Why, you ask? No, I wasn't upset about getting married. I wasn't nervous or frightened. Quite honestly, I was bawling because I was being absurd. I sat and I cried because I was, and notoriously, remain, a bad housekeeper.
"I CAN'T COOK!" I said through sobs. Then I listed several other things: "I CAN'T IRON! I CAN'T SEW A HEM! I HA

Thank You, Lord...
That I have the privlege to stand as Your Daughter and that through the Spirit I can live in self-control.
Thank You, Lord...
For your Word which helps me to learn your will and live in moderation as You have called me.
Thank You, Lord...
That I don't have to live the way I used to, but can live a new life in You.
Thank You, Lord...
That even though I might have screwed up yesterday, I can start new today.

Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (1953-2007) was a woman I always sat in awe of. The first democratically elected Prime Minister of an Islamic state, Benazir Bhuttto's life was one of both great victory and tragedy. In her lifetime, she spent nearly six years imprisoned or under detention. She suffered exile from her own nation more than once, and had her government overthrown by people who wanted her out of power. Those same people who grew to despise her killed her father

It was eighteen years ago this past October that my mother fulfilled her call to leave Egypt. Nearly twenty years ago now she heard about a group called Al-Anon and heard the call of God that it was time to leave the sting of alcoholism, codependency, abuse, and dysfunction to come out into a new place of freedom. She didn't know what would lie ahead. Despite fears and worries about what would come, my mom became our family "Moses." We became the proverbial Israelites. Some of us griped. Some

I was praying today and I believe God gave me an important revelation on moderation. The key to moderation is realizing when we have had enough and stopping at that. Whether it's eating, spending, saying too much, acquirng too much, or how we spend our free time, all of us can step back from any situation and ask ourselves, "Am I done?"
We don't live in a world that is very in touch with need today. Much of what we hear about is want-based rather than need-based. It's no wonder that pe
