Miriam L. Jacobs is a survivor of life. In fact, she has earned her PhD in life.

She has persevered time after time, despite multitudinous hardships. Born to an alcoholic father who died from an alcoholic fall when she was eighteen years old, Mrs. Jacobs never gave up on life. Since age twelve, she has used writing in a cathartic and helpful way.

After her 28 year old brother, his wife and three young daughters were killed in a raging house fire, Miriam nearly gave up, losing all faith in God, yet she used her writing to work through the feelings associated with the tragedies. She also volunteered at local hospital Burn Units to help other families to cope.

Deep depression, alcoholism and a downward spiral only motivated her to keep going. After a twenty-one year career working with the public in the USPS in Queens County, she started a second career working with mentally ill adults recovering from drugs and alcohol, assisting them to reenter society in Sullivan County.

Married three times, the first two to abusive men who mentally and physically abused her, she never gave up on love or the institution of marriage. In fact her current husband has been by her side since January 1996 helping to support and encourage her to reach her goals. Mrs. Jacobs often coaches young married couples to deal with the challenges that marriage presents.

Her honest, no nonsense approach to writing about her traumatic life experiences has brought her virtual acclaim through Myspace.com and other online sites. Mrs. Jacobs has amassed a loyal following of friends who look to her for words of inspiration and wisdom through her poetry and life stories, drawing from her 17 years of living a life of sobriety, positive tools to combat depression and her strong faith in God, to help others.





Candalyse Publishing Created to Fund Surgeries

Candalyse Publishing is an exciting new venture intended primarily for first time authors and poets seeking to get their manuscripts printed in an affordable manner exuding both style and grace.

Candalyse Publishing Founder and CEO Miriam L. Jacobs' primary focus is to help her client's literary visions reach fruition. As a poet and author, Mrs. Jacobs has endured the frustrations, rejections, and obstacles that first time writers often encounter. It was through these same struggles that the impetus for publishing her own work was born.

After successfully publishing three of her books via a well-received website, Mrs. Jacobs visualized creating her own publishing company where, by self-publishing her and others' works, all involved could enjoy a greater sense of artistic freedom and fiscal success. Yet her greatest inspiration in building this company, and the one that continues to motivate her zeal to succeed, is to realize another dream as well - to raise the funds necessary for her young granddaughter's impending surgery.

It was through this combination of creative freedom, entrepreneurship, and altruism that Candalyse Publishing was born - the name itself a combined tribute to her two granddaughters, Candace and Alyse.

The company logo is a butterfly within a triangle - the butterfly a universal symbol of positive change through metamorphoses; the three sides of the triangle signifying the unconditional love, trust, and family spirit that this company will always aspire to embrace.
