That's right! It is through the power, grace, anointing of the Holy Spirit that will help us to overcome all things. Left alone we have no strength to overcome our dependencies. We need the strength that comes whe we sincerely cry out, "help me Lord Jesus to obey you and turn from temptation and say 'no' to the devils temptations and evil tricks. You have heard the saying, "you always hurt the one you love"? Well it is true, we do hurt the ones we love don't we? This happens because we feel secure enough in our relationship or comfortable enough knowing more or less how our loved ones will respond. That is why so many of us come home from a long hard day and dump our frustrations on our innocent loved ones. We can't really dump on the job, beat up the boss, crack a fist over our demanding supervisor or our neighbor for fear of negative consequences. So, we wait till we get home where we feel safe and viciously drop our pent up anger and frustrations on the very people we say we love; our wife, husband, little children, mom, dad, our ill and needy grandparents. We look for any excuse we can find and use it as an open door to dump; any excuse, like the kids are making too much noise or Monday night football is on and the TV is acting up, someone left the bathroom light on, what ever. What ever we just need an excuse to start our ritual of verbal abuse. If we continue to be angry people who don't learn to express our frustration in a healthy manner we will eventually become physically abusive as well....
